All London Green Grid Colne Valley area framework
The All London Green Grid is a planning strategy document within the London Plan. Networks between existing green spaces are proposed adding value to these spaces, by delivering amenity, biodiversity, climate change mitigation and improvement to urban life.
The Colne and Crane river catchments stretch across the edge of West London from the wooded heights of Ruislip through the green belt of Hillingdon and Colne Valley, to Heathrow and the Thames.
This area vision articulates a spatial strategy that links green spaces within the overlooked filigree of lakes, woodland, heath and meadow that characterise the area. challenging preconceptions of an undesirable suburban edge-land dominated by transport infrastructure
Across five boroughs several hundred projects were scoped: from river restoration, habitat creation, enhanced connectivity and recreation through to SUDS, visitor destinations, and productive landscapes.
