Strategic Urban Realm Framework

North Woolwich Road and Rail Transport Corridor

Location: North Woolwich, London

Client: LB Newham / Design for London

Date: 2007 -08

Developing work undertaken in the DLR Context Works project, predicated on a careful baseline study and extensive consultation, this strategy for the public realm, across Silvertown and North Woolwich in the Southern Royal Docks, has been developed as a response to the challenges and opportunities that have arisen from emerging development across the area. Prioritising stengthening linkages and consolidating the quality of open spaces, the study prioritises a series of clearly different but linked, detailed proposals, which begin to deliver a wider strategy improving  in detail across the area.

Specific proposals address upgrading the public realm, new linkages (eg. crossing the rail corridor) consolidating green space and the coherent development of left-over open spaces, and mini framework plans for key areas.
